Our group focuses on the physics and engineering of light on a mesoscopic scale ranging from tens of microns down to tens of nanometers. In this regime, we can explore myriads of fascinating optical phenomena both theoretically and experimentally. Topics include:

Metamaterials - Pursuing novel artificial functionalities at optical frequency provided by the nano/micro-scale fabrication, such as negative refraction or cloaking

Optomechanics - Radiation-pressure-induced regenerative mechanical amplification or cooling of an optomechanical micro- or nanocavity

Plasmonics - More specifically, surface plasmon-polariton cavities and their miniaturization down to subwavelength-scale

Silicon Photonics - Nanopatterned crystalline silicon or silicon nanocrystals and their application to efficient silicon light sources
