Dr. Ahn Joon-sun, who obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 2017, published “Direct numerical simulation of a 30R long turbulent pipe flow at Reτ = 3008″ at Physics of Fluids (American Physical Society). The paper was selected as the most cited article in the Physics of Fluids Journal in 2015 & 2016. In the field of research, the highest Reynolds number Reτ = 3,008 (ReD = 133,000) was directly numerically simulated, which received great attention from academia. In the meantime Prof. Sung’s research team has achieved outstanding research results in the field of microfluidics based on turbulent flow, solid – fluid interaction, optical power and acoustics.
