The KAIST student team won the first Virtual RobotX (VRX) Competition sponsored by the U.S. Office of Naval Research. A total of 17 teams from 9 countries participated in the VRX competition. The VRX competition is an international, university-level competition designed to broaden student’s exposure to autonomy and maritime robotic technologies. Participating teams operated their own unmanned surface vehicle (USV) in a virtual simulation environment built by Open Robotics and Naval Postgraduate School. They are tasked to develop innovative solutions to ensure their virtual USV can perform prescribed tasks in the simulation environment.
